Every single registered domain has a minimum of two Name Server records that show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you point your domain to the servers of a particular website hosting company. This way, you've got both your website and your emails managed by the exact same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), however, there is a variety of other records, for instance A and MX. The first one reveals which server deals with the site for a given domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter indicates which server handles the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For instance, when you enter a domain address in your Internet browser, your request is directed through the global DNS system to the provider whose NS records the domain uses and from there you will be forwarded to the servers of another provider provided you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your Internet domain. Having separate records for the website and the emails means you could have your site and your emails with 2 different companies if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Web Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with each and every Linux cloud web hosting that we provide, allows you to view, change and create A and MX records for any Internet domain or subdomain in your account. From the DNS Records section, you will be able to view a list of all hosts inside the account in alphabetical order with their related records, so any update is not going to take you more than a few mouse clicks. Setting up new records is as simple if, for example, you wish to use the e-mail services of another company and they ask you to create more MX records than the default two. Also you can set the priority for each MX record by setting different latency. In other words, when your e-mails are delivered, the sending server is going to contact the record with the smallest latency first and if the connection times out, it'll contact the next one. Using our advanced tool, you'll be able to manage the records of your domain addresses and subdomains with ease even if you have no prior experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Accessing and editing the A or MX records for any of your domains or subdomains is extremely easy if you get a semi-dedicated server plan through our company. The accounts are managed through our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel, which has a section dedicated to the DNS records of your domains. The latter will be listed alphabetically and you may click on any one of them to see both the A and the MX records. Modifying any record is as easy as typing in the new one in a text box and saving the change, so in case you have never dealt with such matters before, you will not experience any difficulties if you wish to point your site or emails to a different provider while keeping the second service with our company. When necessary, you can also set up additional MX records and set a specific priority depending on the recommendations of the new provider.
